About the Author:

Allan William Lohaus, M.D. is a graduate of Earlham College and The George Washington University School of Medicine. Following post-graduate training and national service, he specialized as an obstetrician and gynecologist and served as an Associate Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

His first publication, A Problem in Cancer Research, was followed by a number of co-authored clinical papers in professional journals. His non-scientific writing began with personal journaling, enhanced by Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way and attending Twin Farms Writers Workshops since 2001.

Coming of age on a Dutchess County, New York dairy farm, Allan discovered the beauties and mysteries of life. His interest in capturing images of nature and sacred places has taken him to six continents. As a recreational sailor, he has experienced the breezes of the Chesapeake Bay, Lake Winnipesaukee and the Atlantic Ocean. His spiritual journey began in childhood with the Quakers and continues with Habitat for Humanity and The Kittamaqundi Community in Columbia, Maryland.

As an author and educator, Dr. Lohaus discusses MAYDAY!: A Physician As Patient at schools of medicine and at meetings of helping professionals and the public. He will consider invitations to speak.
